Aloha Chapter Recognition & Benefits Program
Celebrating 30 Years of Ethical and Effective Professionals - Serving in Hawaii since 1983
On Wednesday, November 16, 2016, the Aloha Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) will hold its 19th Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon and Conference, titled “Philanthropy: A Catalyst for Change” at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. We invite you to join us as a sponsor for the luncheon and conference that will provide stimulating learning opportunities for professionals and celebrate those who change our world for the better through philanthropy – “the love of humankind.”
National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is an opportunity to honor individuals and organizations whose lifetime or long-term achievements have made a significant impact in the state, and is held in conjunction with our NPD Conference, a full day of education tracks for nonprofit professionals to enhance their skills and aptitude.
Celebrating its 32nd year, the Aloha Chapter of AFP is a statewide professional association with representation on Oahu, Maui County, Kauai County and Hawaii Island. Membership is comprised of persons involved in fundraising arenas including fund development, nonprofit management and fundraising consulting. We are a chapter of the international organization with current membership of over 200+ fundraising professionals in Hawaii.
National Philanthropy Day Conference
On average more than 200 members and non-AFP members attend the NPD Conference each November. Approximately 40-percent of attendees are from small nonprofit organizations that lack the budget to send staff to mainland conferences making NPD one of the only opportunities at which they can learn from skilled professionals.
The Conference provides courses by Hawaii-based professionals in four tracks that members at every career level will find beneficial. Moreover, NPD invites nationally and internationally respected presenters to teach courses at the conference, giving many local members of the fundraising community their only opportunity to learn from and interact with these experts.
Sponsorship of NPD will help the Aloha Chapter to continue upholding the highest ethical and professional standards for career fundraisers, providing educational conference courses that examine the fundraising process at all levels and better ways of accomplishing goals. Current 2015 conference sessions include sessions on major gifts, planned giving, capital campaigns, and leadership.
The NPD Awards Luncheon is attended by over 400 community leaders and provides an opportunity to honor individuals and companies that have demonstrated effective and thoughtful philanthropy, thereby enhancing the quality of life in Hawaii, building community, reaching out to others to ensure a brighter future, addressing social needs in our state and setting an example for all of us to follow.
